Make it stand out

For this project, I was tasked with developing an engaging event to raise awareness and support for Leeds Charity Hospital. Rather than taking a traditional fundraising route, I wanted to create something that would spark imagination, empower young people, and build a lasting connection between the public and the charity’s mission. This led to the creation of “Heroes of Hope”—a superhero-themed campaign designed to inspire and involve children, families, and the wider community.

At the heart of the concept were two original superhero characters, fully illustrated and designed using the charity’s existing color palette and logo as core design elements. These characters served as mascots for the campaign, representing strength, compassion, and resilience—values aligned with the charity’s work. I created a full visual identity for the event, including promotional artwork, merchandise mockups, and branded social media materials, all with a vibrant, uplifting tone to appeal to both children and adults.

One of the most exciting aspects of the campaign was the interactive component: children attending the event would be encouraged to design their own superhero. The winning design would then be professionally developed into an official character and featured in future charity materials—creating a powerful sense of involvement and pride. This long-term vision included plans for a growing superhero universe that could be used in educational tools, comics, and merchandise, all helping to raise funds and visibility for the cause.

This project allowed me to blend character design, branding, community engagement, and storytelling into one cohesive and meaningful campaign—showcasing how design can both inspire and make a tangible difference.
